Ellen Whalen
Nursing Executive

Ellen Whalen is the hospitals’ nursing executive, retaining the scope of responsibility for quality of care and service provided to patients by nursing staff.

Her priorities going forward will include recruitment and retention initiatives to ensure that we have exceptionally qualified nurses to support our current and expanded programs.

Whalen has nearly 20 years of progressive nursing leadership in both hospital and faculty practice settings. 

Among her achievements at University Hospital, she implemented a highly successful RN residency program for new graduate nurses. She is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and has been inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the honor society of nursing.
